The Gemini observing databases will be offline for several hours on Tuesday June 4 while we perform quarterly software updates at both the South and North facilities. During this time the Observing Tool fetch/store and file transfers will be unavailable and web report forms will be offline. An updated version of the Observing Tool will be available on Wednesday June 5. Please check this site for further announcements.
Science Operations Announcements
GNIRS optical work has been postponed to 2014, see the Status and Availability page. This means that GNIRS remains on the telescope later in the 13A semester and is expected to be available for science in early August. Also imaging using GNIRS and the Y filter is not possible, and the short red camera is not available, until 2014.
A bug in PIT 2013.2.1 prevents the calculation of guide star availability for the given target, instrument configuration, and weather conditions. This does not prevent proposal submission but it is confusing and undesirable. This problem has been fixed with the release of PIT 2013.2.2 on March 26, 2013. The new PIT can be downloaded from here. The guide star likelihoods will be calculated automatically once a program is loaded into the new PIT.
