System Verification
The Gemini community is invited to propose System Verification (SV) science programs for GeMS/GSAOI. The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, September 14, 2012, 23:59 UT.
System Verification provides an end-to-end test of a new instrument or capability, from the proposal process to the delivery of the data, in advance of offering the new capability to the community for general use. Therefore, it is a "shared risk" observing mode, and incurs responsibility on the proposers to provide feedback to the observatory in a timely fashion. The proprietary period for SV data is two months.
Approximately 60 hours of SV time is available in the 2012B semester. We expect to observe SV programs between December 1, 2012 and January 31, 2013.
Proposals will be reviewed and selected for their suitability to test the system. Selected proposals will be announced by October 12, 2012. Phase II submissions will be required by Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Successful PIs will need to be available during the period October 12 and November 6 to prepare their Phase IIs and interact with the GeMS/GSAOI team before and during the SV run.
More information and details are provided in the complete SV Call.
