Scientific opportunities arising from the new instruments at Gemini and SOAR: August 7-10, 2014
Aiming to disseminate among the user communities of Gemini and SOAR knowledge about new and improved instrumentation and the capacity to use them efficiently, LNA together with INCT-A invites researchers to participate in a training workshop. The meeting is meant to inform them about the opportunities offered by the new instruments and how to use them for their scientific projects and will include topics such as Instrumental properties and capacities, Observational strategies, Preparation and execution of observations, Calibrations, Data format, and Data reductions.
Special attention will be given to the practical aspects of these topics. Thus, the workshop will not be limited to talks of specialists about the respective subjects, but will emphasize practical exercises meant to provide the participants with hands-on experiences in the use of the instruments and the data delivered by them.

The 2014 AusGO/AAO Observational Techniques Workshop: April 1 - 4, 2014
The Australian Gemini Office in conjunction with the Australian Astronomical Observatory will hold the 2014 AusGO/AAO Observational Techniques Workshop from midday on Tuesday April 1 to midday on Friday April 4, 2014 at the AAO Headquarters in North Ryde, Sydney.
The workshop is designed to be an introduction to the optical and infrared facilities available to the Australian astronomical community, and will include tutorials and demonstrations where participants get their hands on real data and learn how to reduce it.

The South American Data Workshop: October 27 - 30, 2011
The workshop will be dedicated mainly to the discussion of the use, reduction and analysis of Gemini data. It will focus in particular on data obtained with the Gemini instruments GMOS, GNIRS, and NIFS, as well as with the new Gemini South instruments GSAOI and FLAMINGOS-2. Invited speakers will talk about the capabilities of these instruments, with the goal of simulating their use by the Gemini community.
