The recent System Verification run of GeMS (Gemini Multi-conjugate adaptive optics System) over the New Year's holiday was a huge success! Watch for the release of a spectacular image from GeMS on Wednesday, January 9th as part of the American Astronomical Society meeting in Long Beach California. For now, enjoy this beautiful image of the GeMS laser at Gemini South and see if you can identify Orion, the Pleiades, and Jupiter adorning its orange light along with the rising moon.
