New Capabilities Available in 2004B
New Capabilities Available in 2004B
New or changed capabilities offered for semester 2004B are summarized below. See the 2004B Call for Proposals for further details.
- Gemini North
- 1-2.5um AO-corrected spectroscopy with Altair + NIRI, as well as imaging; both available in classical and queue modes
- Nod-and-shuffle observations with GMOS North can take advantage of electronic offsetting of the guide star, for small nod offsets of up to ~2 arcsec, resulting in even better on-source efficiency (now typically >90%).
- Michelle available in queue mode for imaging and R=200-3000 spectroscopy
- NIRI available in classical mode, as well as queue
- 100hr 'reserved' for promoting follow-up observations of Spitzer Space Telescope results
- Gemini South
- R=2000 and 6000 long-slit 1-5um and R=2000 cross-dispersed 1-2.5um near-infrared spectroscopy with GNIRS
- Nod-and-shuffle available with GMOS South IFU (but not GMOS-N due to a different IFU configuration).
- Nod-and-shuffle observations with GMOS South can take advantage of electronic offsetting of the guide star, for small nod offsets of up to ~2 arcsec, resulting in even better on-source efficiency (now typically >90%).
- T-ReCS available in classical mode, as well as queue
- 100hr 'reserved' for promoting follow-up observations of Spitzer Space Telescope results
