Hokupa'a Proposal Checklist

To demonstrate technical feasibility you may wish to consider the following checklist when writing your telescope proposal:

• Hokupa'a wavefront reference source (guide star):
• Is the magnitude of the guide star sufficient for the image quality expected?
• Is it within the acquisition field of the wavefront sensor steering mirrors?
• If the guide star is extended, can you provide information on the extent and flux distribution?
• Have you specified the star and its characteristics in the technical justification?
• Telescope peripheral wavefront sensors:
• Have you specified a guide star for the peripheral wavefront sensor(s)?
• Expected image quality:
• What is the expected image quality (FWHM, Strehl, or 50% EED)? What is the minimum image quality necessary for the science?
• Is this performance consistent with the expected performance of the system? Have you included an estimate of the system performance?
• Is this consistent with the accessibility of the target during the semester?
• Calibrations:
• What calibration data is required for your program? PSF calibration are the responsibility of each observing program.
• Observing time:
• Are overheads accounted for in the requested time?
