GNIRS Grating Usage: long camera and 10 l/mm

Resolving power:
(lambda / delta lambda)
1700 with 0.1 arcsec (2 pixel) slit
Typical uses:
(...and limitations)
(1) Spectra of all or most of an atmospheric window at one grating setting with fine spatial sampling

This mode replicates the resolution of the short camera with the 32 l/mm grating, but with 3x the spatial resolution. Because of the significant slit losses (e.g., a 0.1 arcsec slit is required to match the resolution of the 0.3 arcsec slit with the short camera), this mode is only recommended when very high spatial resolution is desired.

Example spectra and other figures:
This mode is currently in commissioning; sample spectra will be provided when available.
