CIRPASS Fore Optics and IFU Configurations

CIRPASS is fed directly by the f/16 Gemini beam. A fore-optics mechanism provides two plate scales with the 490 fiber-lens IFU:

The layout of the array on the sky is roughly elliptical. As with any Gemini instrument, rotation of the Instrument Support Structure allows the projected field to be placed at arbitrary orientation. The projection of the IFU module on the sky is shown below (490 of the 499 hexagonal lenslet/fibers are useable; those on the extreme lower left edge are not useful):
