Some Conclusions
A spectroscopic MAXAT has a clear advantage over a NGST for moderate to high resolution spectroscopy out to 5 microns
It may be possible to build a spectroscopic MAXAT for < $1 billion
Instrumentation will be challenging but only slightly more so than current 8 meter experience (that is not necessarily good news)
Success of Adaptive Optics dictates success of MAXAT
