We have used infrared imaging polarimetry to trace the magnetic field structure in the faint filaments connecting the northern arm from near IRS5 towards the molecular ring close to IRS8. These observations, made using Michelle on UKIRT, are a factor of 5 more sensitive than previous imaging polarimetry at these wavelengths. They show that the field in the filaments is not related to the field near the source IRS8, and suggest a dynamical connection between the field in the northern arm and the molecular ring.
