Purpose

Most groups around the world that have developed instruments for large telescopes have experienced difficulties in completing them within agreed budget, schedule, and technical specifications. The consequences have had very severe scientific and financial implications for some groups. Many lessons - some very bitter - have been learned from these experiences, and these lessons can be shared with others to help them avoid similar problems in the future.

This workshop will be designed to share experiences and lessons learned for the mutual benefit of all participants. We will encourage broad ranging and candid discussion that allows us to focus on the real issues.
