Gemini Observatory Family Eclipse Viewing - Radio PSA

On Monday, June 10th, Hawaii will experience a 50% partial solar eclipse and Big Island residents are invited to participate in safe public viewing at the Gemini Observatory Headquarters in Hilo. The event will run from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the maximum eclipse occurring at 2:47 p.m. Telescopes with safe viewing filters will be provided by the Hilo Astronomy Club and University of Hawaii at Hilo Astronomy Department. Tours will also be provided of the Gemini facility and control center throughout the day even if clouds obscure the eclipse.

The Gemini Observatory headquarters are located at the University of Hawaii at Hilo's University Park off Komohana. Parking will be on A'ohoku Place in front of the headquarters. For more information call 974-2500.
