A few words from friends and colleagues

Joe, Please send along my

Joe,

Please send along my condolences and best wishes to his family and friends. Although I did not see him on a daily basis as you did, I enjoyed working with Steve last spring on the GPI instrument project, and as a result of our business trips together and conversations over dinner, in hotel lobbies, airports, during breaks at meetings, etc., I was able to come to appreciate the depth of his skill as a manager, the passion he had for his work, and the high regard he had for his co-workers and fellow human beings. We all will miss him, not merely as a fellow co-worker on an important instrument project, but as a friend, helping to guide us and to light the way for us. We are all shocked and saddened by his untimely departure, and we grieve not only his premature passing but also our own loss.

Kindest regards,

Mark

Doug,

Doug,

Please pass my thoughts and condolences to Steve's wife and family. I had some interaction with him on the various M2 issues relating to GPI, and I was always impressed by the breadth of his expertise and easy-going approach. Our conversations were always a pleasure.

I can understand the distress and pain his wife and family are feeling right now. My father also passed away suddenly; he left for work one day with no hint of anything amiss, the next thing we knew we learned he had had a massive heart attack during the drive to work. Fortunately he managed to pull off the road, and a driver behind stopped and tried to help, but to no avail. Although it seems strange now, my family reflect on the fact that while my dad's death was sudden and a terrible shock (he was a scant few years from what would hopefully have been a long and happy retirement), at least his passing was not lingering and he did not suffer. May it have been so for Steve, and although he is gone those he met will remember him with a light heart. I for one am grateful to have known him, albeit for so brief a time.

Chris

Dear Joe, Doug, and Scot

Dear Joe, Doug, and Scot

I heard the terrible news from Gemini about Steven. I am so terribly sorry to hear this, whilst I only had the chance to meet Steven a couple
of times, I immediately found him a pleasure to work with. Please do pass on my deepest condolences to his wife, colleagues and friends, and
if there is any form of collection I would very much like to contribute to it.

With deepest regrets,

Chris.
